Cosy Stoves are not responsible for soot damage from an existing chimney to either floor coverings, furnishings or painted surfaces. Due to constantly changing regulations it is the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure PRIOR to purchase that local regulations permit the installation and use of wood fired appliances at their post code (example smokeless zones).

Where a new chimney(s) is/are required (masonry or prefabricated) the customer is solely responsible for seeking advice from the local authority that this is permitted and if necessary obtain planning approval prior to committing to purchase / installation. (Smokeless zones, Listed building, conservation area) It is NOT the responsibility of Cosy Stoves or its agents to seek these approvals and we shall not be held responsible in any respect for any installations carried out without the required local authority approvals.

Chimney pots are required for all installations as the pot hanging cowl fixes to the chimney pot and supports the liner hanging in the chimney. Chimney pot supply and installation starts from £150+VAT.

Serviceable Parts & Slate Hearths

There are several serviceable parts, which we do not guarantee as within our installation quotes.

  • Fire Cement We do not cover fire cement replacement in our quotes. The black seal around the spigot or collar of the stove can break or crack in time or if the stove is moved. Replacing fire cement is not covered in our installation costs but can be purchased cheaply online and replaced by the customer. We charge a call out rate and hourly rate.
  • Stove Glass We do not cover stove glass replacement in our quotes. Glass can crack for a number of reasons, generally due to excessive heat or long term use. The customer can purchase replacement glass online, which they can install themselves. We charge a call out rate and hourly rate.
  • Fire Brick Replacement We do not cover fire bricks in our quotes. Fire bricks inside the stove take the punishment from the heat and serve a vital role of protecting the body of your woodburner. The customer can purchase replacement fire bricks online, which they can install themselves or request a quote from us for this work. We charge a call out rate and hourly rate. We suggest you replace any broken firebricks as soon as possible.
  • Slate Hearths – Slate is a natural material and can contain hidden defects such as cracks, which only come to light after long term usage. Hearths are bedded on sand and cement where appropriate, but the heat from the stove or customers standing on hearth may result in damage. We will only replace slate hearths free of charge up to 12 months after installation date. After this date we are happy to quote to replace hearth and reinstall stove. We are always happy to work with customer to resolve any issues.

All customers will benefit from a full guarantee on workmanship for a period of 12 months. Guarantees on materials run in accordance with manufacturer’s warranty periods where applicable. Our guarantee covers all new work and new materials used in construction or repairs, but does not guarantee the integrity of any existing structures, materials or decorations. In the event of a failure beyond the guarantee period I will be happy to investigate the cause and negotiate a solution to the problem without delay and carry out any agreed repairs as soon as possible. Charges may apply for remedial work carried out beyond guarantee dates or to items not covered by my guarantee.
