Do you want to replace your Gas Fire with a Woodburner?
We were asked to remove the gas fire and surround and enlarge fireplace in order to install a woodburner. We arranged a local gas engineer to cap off the gas fire for safe removal and then carefully deconstucted the stone surround in order for the customer could sell in due course.
We then excavated the fireplace and enlarged the recess before supplying and installing a slate hearth. We generally render the inside of the recess with sand and cement to withstand the heat of the woodburner. We then install metal beading around the recess and plaster to finish.
Our customer wanted the classic look of a mantel above the recess, so we used our ceramic / concreate mantels for this purpose as they are non-combustible. The customer selected the popular Covelly beam with a rustic look.
We are HETAS installers and recommend the Gridesdale Woodburner from MI Flues, which is the larger of the three 5kW stoves they offer.
See MI Flues stoves below with dimensions, all are wood only, SIA approved and 5kW output.
We can supply and install MI flues stoves and most other brands of woodburners.
