Renovation of Fireplace with Woodburner installation in Taunton
Our customer asked us to remove an old stone fireplace surround, which didn’t suit the room or age of the property in order to install a woodburner in their property in Taunton. We carefully removed the existing surround and installed a new lintel, before excavating the recess to the original size. We supplied and cut to fit a new 1500mm x 900mm slate hearth to cover the concreate which was exposed when removing the old stone hearth. We generally sand the edges of the hearth and round of the sharp corners before laying and oiling.
We rendered the fireplace recess with sand and cement to protect against the heat and beaded around the edge with metal beading before bonding and plastering around the recess to finish.
We installed a Mi Flues Grisedale 5Kw woodburner, which is Defra and SIA approved. Therefore, meets the new air quality regulations enforced in 2022. It’s a high quality large woodburning stove and is perfect for these fireplaces

Once the installation is completed we througherly test the stove and complete a HETAS commissioning document and then demonstrate to the customer on how the use the woodburner together with safety procedures and maintenance.
