This project involve knocking out a chimney breast in a property in Burnham-on-Sea and enlarging the recess to the original size, before installing a woodburner.
We initially cut the skirting board and removed the rubble before installing a slate hearth and steel registration plate to seal off the chimney. The slate hearth was deliberately raised to allow for a thick carpet to be laid.
The fireplace recess was rendered with sand and cement and the external edge around the recess was bonded, beaded and plastered.

We installed a Ecosy Panoramic, multi-fuel woodburner to compliment the large recess and chimney breast. It’s a 5kw, Defra and SIA approved stove and measures some 560mm wide, so is one of the larger woodburners in its class.
