This project involved installing a Carron Darwin inset woodburner in a property in Exeter.
Inset woodburners can be the solution to installing a stove if room space is restricted due to their compact design and small hearth requirements.
The old gas fire, marble back and wood surround were removed to reveal a large recess, which we reduced by building a brick chamber to enclose the outer casing of the inset woodburner. Inset woodburners generally require a 300mm hearth extended in front of the door, allowing us to reuse the current marble hearth. We then bonded and plastered the front of the chimney breast to a flat finish before installing the inset woodburner.
We specialise in installing inset woodburners in Exeter and the Carron Darwin is a great quality cast iron 5kW inset woodburner, sometimes referred to as a cassette woodburner.
The customer wanted a concrete effect oak mantel and we supplied and installed a Bideford rustic mantel from Newman Fireplaces.
